R.H. & R.S., Phoenix - Residential Foam Roofing

Shingle Roofing

Shingle roofing is the most common roofing system in the valley. Shingle roofing is definitely by far the best pitched roofing system for the money spent.

Asphalt Shingles are the most common roofing material installed on the residential home. This is due to many factors, such as versatility in colors and profiles; they are relatively inexpensive; and have a 20 to 50 year material warranty.

There are many aspects to consider when repairing or replacing a shingle roof. The first thing to check is the amount of layers on the roof. The more layers there are on a roof, the longer it takes for the heat to dissipate from the shingles, thus shortening the life of them. Improper roof ventilation effects shingles in the same manner.

Where there are too many layers, or curled edges and soft spots in the plywood, existing shingles will need to be removed.

Soft spots in plywood generally occur when a roof has been leaking for an extended period of time and has become rotted. When replacing plywood, it is only necessary to replace the bad sheets.
